Lassen Volcanic National Park – “The West’s most beautiful, least visited wonderland”

Our last stop on this 1777 mile journey was the incredible Lassen Volcanic National Park.  I’m glad we decided to visit this part of California, it was well worth it!  We stayed at the Rancheria RV Park and had a sight right on the Lake.

We visited Burney Falls, a beautiful park with lots of trails that take you around the park and falls. Someone we met on our travels highly recommended we visit this park!

Can you see Hugh?
Can you believe this place was crowded with people, then everyone left and Hugh had the falls to himself!  Shaka!

The water comes from underground springs and seeps through openings in the volcanic rock!  DSCN2073

Check out this mother deer and fawn, they casually walked down to the stream and the fawn did its business in the stream and they casually walked away.

We hiked up to the top of “Cinder Cone“, it was a very rough trail but well worth the challenge.

When you reach the top you can see right into the center of the cone, eerie and incredible at the same time.

P.S.  We wake up on the day we were leaving the area and Hugh found these  large insect exoskeletons on our RV.  YUK!
